Andrew Donald Ruschak, 85 of Charleroi, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016 at his home.  He was born December 5, 1930 in Charleroi, the son of the late Andrew and Paroska Madzaj Rushak.  Don graduated from Charleroi High School in 1949 and was the president of his class.  Don was an employee of Pennsylvania Railroad in the early 50s before serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict.  He went to California State Teachers College on the Korean Bill of Rights. Don taught at Centerville, Beth Center and Charleroi School Districts.  He started his own insurance agency in 1957 and added real estate in 1978.  Don was involved in many community organizations including Charleroi Masonic Lodge 615, I.O.O.F. Lodge 1030, 10th Street AC, American Legion, the Carpatho-Rusyn Society and the Charleroi First United Methodist Church.  He was a founding father of the Mon Valley YMCA and a lifelong member.  He was very proud of the construction of the outdoor pool and buildings at its site on Craven Hill.   He often spoke in dearingly and often of his wife Betty as his “Huss Jewel” and how he brought her to the Magic City.  Don loved sailing and completed many courses at Deer Valley YMCA Camp and Baltimore Harbor.   He was preceded in death by father Andrew Ruschak, mother Paroska Ruschak, wife Betty Ruschak and brother Theodore Ruschak.  He is survived by his sons Donald (Lois) Ruschak and David (Jessie) Ruschak, grandchildren Shelby, Coral, Pearl, Samantha, Noah, Jonah and Skylar. Two brothers Paul Ruschak and Thomas Ruschak.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital and Mon Valley YMCA. Friends will be received Thursday from 7 to 9p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00a.m with Pastor Lori Walters officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
