James 'Jim' Edward Higinbotham of Fallowfield Township passed away May 23, 2017 at Hallsworth House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 11, 1928, in Grindstone, PA to the late Ralph and Marie Coffman Higinbotham. The family later moved to Beallsville, PA. On September 21, 1949, he married Olive Jane Ghrist, who survives, in the Charleroi Presbyterian Church. Jim is also survived by daughters, Barbara (Robert) Pepper, Fallowfield Township, Charmel (Mark) Radcliff, St. Mary's West Virginia, Linda (Robert) Waggoner, Fallowfield Township. He leaves behind his pride; his grandchildren, Kimberly Pepper, Coal Center, Dr. Kraig R. Pepper, Fort Worth, Texas, Molly Radcliff, Shreveport, Louisiana, Cady Radcliff, Fairmont, West Virginia, Ryan L. (fiancé) Natalie Pro) Waggoner, Chad R. Waggoner, Fallowfield Township, and a step grandson, Robert Waggoner III, Weston, West Virginia. Jim loved his grandchildren, spending time working in the 'shop' on projects, camping at Hillegass Campground, and just being their Pap. He has two great grandsons, Erik James Pepper and Benjamin Pepper, Fort Worth, Texas, and two future great granddaughters, Alexa and Addison Pro of Monongahela. Jim leaves behind a brother, Glenn (Ruth) Higinbotham, Beallsville and a sister in law Janet Higinbotham of Connellsville. A host of nieces and nephews, which he always enjoyed visiting. Preceding him in death was a sister, Elise Corvino, and a brother, Clarence 'Jitz' Higinbotham. Jim was employed by Spencer Buick Garage, Dolfi and Cross, Bendick-Lancaster, Charleroi Lumber Company and Dravo Corporation, from which he retired with 33 years as a truck mechanic and maintenance. Jim was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church, serving as a Trustee. Presently, he attended Garwood Baptist Church.He was a member of the Fallowfield Lions Club, serving as President. Currently he is a 10 year member of the Roscoe Lions Club. Jim was PA Lions District 14 M District Governor, 1990-1991. He received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award, the highest honor in Lions for Humanitarian Service. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27th at 11a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Maple Creek Cemetery, Fallowfield Twp.
