James F. Moon, 89, of Fallowfield Township, passed away on Friday , February 2, 2018 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital Pittsburgh. Mr. Moon was born August 1, 1928 in South Connellsville, the son of the late Nellie F. Linderman and Francis M. Moon. While serving in World War II, Cpl. James Moon won the Army of Occupation Medal in Japan. He was a member of the Washington Church of Christ, Charleroi I.O.O.F Lodge 1030, member and past-master of the F. & A.M .Lodge of Connellsville. He retired from West Penn Power Co. after 44 years of service; he spent his retirement being an avid hunter and with his family. James is survived by his wife Irene Fierschnaller Moon; sons James R. Moon and wife Iris of Marion, VA, Alan D. Moon and wife Debra of Monessen; grandchildren Marsha, Nathanael, and Ethan; step-grandson John and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents Mr. Moon is preceded in death by his five sisters and two brothers. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4:45 pm, with funeral services following at 5pm in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremations Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi. Officiated by Pastor David Deagel and family friend Darrel Thomas. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.
