Keith Melenyzer

November 25, 1941 ~ March 16, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old


D. Keith Melenyzer, 75, of Charleroi, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 in the UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.  Keith was born November 25, 1941 in North Charleroi, the son of the late Russell and Muriel Franks Melenyzer. He graduated from Charleroi High School in 1959 after twice winning All-Mon Valley Conference honors in Football.  He continued his football career at West Virginia University, where he earned All-Southern Conference honors and co-captained the team.  Keith received a bachelor’s degree in industrial management before attending the WVU College of Law to obtain his Juris Doctor Degree.  Keith previously was a partner in the Hormell, Tempest, Simmons, Bigi and Melenyzer Law Firm, with offices in Monongahela, California, Washington, and Charleroi Pennsylvania.  In the nine years before his death, he was a partner in the Charleroi law firm Melenyzer-Agrafiotic LLC.  Keith served as Fallowfield Township and California Borough solicitor.  He was a member of the Charleroi Lodge F. & A.M. 615, First Presbyterian Church in California, American Bar Assoc., Washington County Bar Assoc. and the Pennsylvania Bar Assoc; Keith is survived by his wife Dr. Beverly Adamson Melenyzer; two sons Kirk Melenyzer, Sr., and wife Toni of North Charleroi and Keith Melenyzer of Philadelphia; his daughter Kimberly Mance and husband Scott of West Newton; step-son George Otanic of Portland, OR; a sister Ruth Horn of Independence,MO; six grandchildren, Kirk Melenyzer, Jr. and wife Katelyn, Adam Melenyzer, Chad Melenyzer, Mikayla, Aubrie and Riley Mance; and his great granddaughter Paisley Melenyzer;  In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded  in death by his stepmother Jean Morris Melenyzer, a brother Russell Melenyzer and a sister Marlene Tedesco.  The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, March 25th from 10a.m. till 11:45a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 303 4th ST., California.  A memorial service will be held at noon in the church.  In lieu of flower the family has requested contribution be made in memory of Keith to the Jefferson Hospital, Finance Department, Attn: Cardio-Pulmonary, 565 Coal Valley Rd., Jefferson Hills, PA. 15025.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Service., Inc.,  Online condolence may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
