Robert Andre Jeanmenne, Sr., 93 of York, PA., formerly of Charleroi, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016 with his five children by his bedside. He was born November 24, 1923 in Hautmont, France. Husband of more than 60 years to the late Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Miller) Jeanmenne, who passed ten years ago in 2006.  Robert was the son of the late Leon Jeanmenne and Yvonne(LeComte) Jeanmenne.  Robert a devoted husband and father of six children, was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Charleroi.  He served in World War II as a Signalman in the US Navy, notably on the attack transport ship, USS Grimes, that provided support throughout the war and notably in Nagasaki after the bomb which ended the war.  Robert was part of the Tokyo Bay fleet during the treaty signing.  He and wife Elizabeth were married following the end of the war.  Robert’s years in Charleroi were spent first at the US Steel and attended business school, followed by 38 years as an Auditor with General Motors, Fisher Body Plant in McKeesport, PA.  He was also a savvy salesman and a Boy Scout Leader, who loved reading and playing music.  Robert now joins his parents, wife, a daughter Michelle Wagner, his sister Denise Bertovich and most recently last week his younger brother Michael (Mitch) Jeanmenne with our Lord Jesus Christ.  Surviving family includes his sister Simone Jenion of Ft. Worth, TX; Robert’s children and grandchildren son Robert Jeanmenne, Jr., his wife Linda, their sons Dr. Robert Jeanmenne and wife Rebecca, Dr. Patrick Jeanmenne and wife Karen of State College, PA. son Raoul Jeanmenne and wife Teri of North Carolina and their sons Michael Jeanmenne and Dr. Tony Jeanmenne and wife Molly; son Dr. Phillip Jeanmenne and wife Raquel and their daughters Gabrielle and Rochelle of York, PA; Andrea Jeanmenne Huston and her children Daniel, Phillip and Jennifer Huston of Alexandria, VA.; and Robert’s youngest daughter Jacqueline Jeanmenne and husband Arthur Sorce, Jr. of Harrisburg; the late Michelle Wagner’s daughter Celeste Trickett and family.  Robert’s many blessed great grandchildren Robbie, Max, Katie, Patrick, Allie, Natalie Jeanmenne as well as many nieces and nephews from both the Jeanmenne and Miller families.  Robert was truly a blessed man and member of the Greatest Generation.  Friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA.  Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10a.m. with Father Robert Hanna officiating.  Interment will follow with full military rites in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa.  The Mid-Mon Valley Shipmates will conduct a memorial service in the funeral home at 7p.m.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
