Steve P. Durko, Sr., 90 of Charleroi, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township. He was born December 24,1926 in Bentleyville, the son of the late Mary Psota and John Durko. Mr. Durko was a US Navy veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, the 10th Street A.C., American Legion Post 22 all of Charleroi and the Monessen Croatian Club. Mr. Durko wore many hats: Steve, Dad, Pap, and Coach. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and spent over 30 years coaching and mentoring youth baseball and football throughout Bentleyville and Charleroi. Mr. Durko was retired from the Fisher Body Plant in West Mifflin. He is survived by his son Dennis P. Durko and his wife Theresa of Valparaiso, IN; his two daughters Barbara Duda of Carroll Township and Donna Lapcevic and her husband David of Scenery Hill; his sister Rita Calendrillo of N.J.; six grandchildren Janel and Phillip Durko, Jessica Marchesiello and her husband Joseph, Tiffany and Heather Duda and Jenna Lapcevic; two great grandchildren Joey and Jianna Marchesiello.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Durko was preceded in death by his wife Irene Coulson Durko (7-29-97), his son Steve P. Durko, Jr., five brothers Paul, John, Frank, Joseph and George Durko and two sisters Stella Racz and Annie Gennaro. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 10a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, 7th & Washington Ave., Charleroi, celebrated by the Rev. Gerald Mikonis.
