Elizabeth Davies Obituary

Elizabeth A. (Suter) Davies of Charleroi,  passed away into Heaven on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from complications of Frontotemporal Dementia.  She was born in Keyser, WV, on June 16, 1940 to the late Robert L. (Eileen) Suter and Dorothy G. (Harvey) DeVore as the third child of their marriage.  She was also preceded in death by her loving uncle and aunt Eugene L. and Virginia M. Suter (who raised her) and her two brothers Harvey J. DeVore, Jr. and Paul T. Suter along with several brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.  Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 55 years Harold C. Davies, daughter Janet (Geoffrey) Bishop, sons Jeffrey (Raeleen) Davies and James (Heather) Davies, grandchildren Jonathan (Grace) Bishop, Ethan Bishop, Benjamin Bishop, Alexis Davies, Ashley Davies, Cole Davies and Maxwell Davies, great grandchildren Nora, Brody and Kade Bishop.  Her surviving siblings are Mrs. Regina Hahn, Jack (Ruby) Suter, James (Nancy) Suter, Mrs. Sonja Morrissey, Nancy (Don) Hatfield,  John DeVore. Richard (Angie) DeVore, Eva (Randy) Tregembo, Dave (Susan) Suter and John (Abby) Suter.  She will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.  Elizabeth was a graduate of Potomac State College and West Virginia University.  She taught Special Education in the Washington, PA. public school system prior to the birth of her children. As her kids grew, she worked part time as a Nursery School Teacher at the Mon Valley YMCA, sold Mary Kay Cosmetics and then became a Realtor with the Van Voorhis Century 21 Agency.  Elizabeth and her husband Harold were partners at Davies Ford, Inc. and tireless advocates for small business. She served as a Pennsylvania State Committee Woman and Delegate to the 2004 Republican Presidential Convention.  In later years, she became an accomplished miniature artist as a member of several regional miniature clubs and Life Member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (N.A.M.E.).  In 2005, she served as Co-Chair of the N.A.M.E. National Convention held that year in Pittsburgh.  Elizabeth was a 30 year plus member of Journey by Grace Church in Belle Vernon where she sang in the choir “making joyful noises unto the Lord” as she often called her contribution to praise worship.  She would want all those reading this to know that they too can receive saving grace through the Lord Jesus (John 3:16) no matter who you are or what you have done in this life.  Her family would like to thank her physicians Dr. DeRienzo, the staff at Benedum Geriatric Center at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, Mon Valley Hospital and Via Quest Hospice.  She was attended faithfully by caregivers Barb, Cindi, Amy, Sharon, Karen, Gloria and Lori.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (Theaftd.org), Samaritans Purse or Journey by Grace Church.  Friends will be received at the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2018.  A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at Journey by Grace Church, 4803 PA-51, Belle Vernon, Monday at 11:30a.m.  Family and friends attending the services are being asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com
