Hazel Emma Micheli

Hazel Emma Cunningham Micheli, 92 of Charleroi, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018.  She was born at home on November 12, 1925 in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania to George and Josephine Cunningham. The family moved to a farm in Fallowfield Township in the late 1940’s. Hazel graduated from Rostraver High School and pursued work at Model Cleaners in Charleroi. While dancing at a local venue, Hazel met Ray Micheli in Charleroi and a romance ensued. In 1950 they eloped and spent their honeymoon at Virginia Beach, Va. Hazel’s initials became “HEM”. A very fitting moniker for the extraordinary seamstress that she became. She worked her way up to master seamstress at Kay’s Cleaners in Charleroi preceded by many years of hard work at other businesses. Hazel was a devoted wife and mother.  She also embraced the role of Grandmother. Her fun loving spark for life kept her busy and engaged with family, friends, and her church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, baking, bowling, and playing cards. Hazel was still quilting and playing Rummy at 92 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Raymond K. Micheli, mother of Diane (Lou) Janesko, Mark (Bonnie) Micheli, Grandmother of Sam Janesko (Shannon), Sarah Janesko (Russell), and Marci Schock. Hazel is predeceased by 3 brothers, 1 sister, and a nephew. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Burger, several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received Friday from 5 to 8p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11a.m. in Grace United Methodist, Coal Center, with The Rev Kenneth Custer officiating.  Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
