Bessie Jean Tedrow Ciavarra

Bessie Jean Tedrow Ciavarra, 100, of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on February 23rd, 2022 at Grandview Estates of Elizabeth. Born in Fallowfield Twp., on November 25th, 1921, Bessie is the daughter of the late Charles & Anna Dillner Tedrow.

Jean was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Fayette City where she served as church treasurer, was on the Board of Elders, & was also an Elder Elect to the Presbytery. She was also a member of the Mid Mon Valley Ministerial Association. Jean loved dancing, bowling & playing cards. She also enjoyed tending her flowers & watching the birds.

Jean is survived by her nephews Jack, Jim (Ann), Doug, Brad Tedrow, Ron (Mary Anne Dec’d) McCracken, & Bert (Betsy) Winters. Nieces Jerilyn (Ellsworth) Cottom, Linda Thompson, Andrea (Jamie) Anderson, Amanda (James) Tedrow-Gilstrap, Patricia Shields, Pamela Tedrow, Jean Tedrow, & Kerry Tedrow. Also surviving are many great-nieces & nephews.  

In addition to her parents Jean is preceded in death by her brothers; Morris (Wilda), Howard, James (Imogene), & Charles E. (Patricia) Tedrow. Sisters; Maythen (Duane) Duvall, Katherine “Kay” Winters & Maragert Ellen; her nephews Norman “Herk” McCracken, Ray Winters, & Scott Tedrow.

Friends and family will be received from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday March 2nd, 2022,  at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A graveside service will be held at Maple Creek Cemetery at 1:15pm with Pastor Jeff Marton officiating.
