Catherine “Dee” Valla, 88, of Charleroi, passed away on August 19, 2022, in Havencrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Catherine was born on March 17, 1934 in Elrama, Pa. She was the daughter of late Eli & Jennie (Victor) Plesa.
Catherine was a former member of the Saint Joseph Church in Roscoe before it closed, she was a waitress for many years at Santonis restaurant in Charleroi, and enjoyed going to the casino with her niece Barbara. She loved spending time talking and being with her friends and family with whom she loved the most.
Surviving to cherish Catherine’s memory; her niece Barbara Ford, her great nephew Joseph Desiderio, and her close friend Cindy Watkins. She will be missed dearly by all her great friends at the Crest Avenue apartments.
In addition to her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank Valla, her sisters Ann Lytle and Mary Volchieff, and her brother Nicholas Gulli.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 24th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Hogan-Melenyzer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi on Thursday, August 25th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Round Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
