“The love of my life” – Marian Hank
Edward Joseph Hank Sr., 92, of Charleroi, went to be with the Lord on September 9th, 2025. Edward was born in North Charleroi on March 28th, 1933 to the late Joseph Edward and Eunice (Comer) Hank.
Catholic by faith; Edward was a member of the St. Andrew the Apostle Parish – Charleroi Site. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), Knights of Columbus (KOC), and the Charleroi Elks Lodge. Following high school, Edward served honorably for 2 years in the United States Army as an MP (Military Police). He was a graduate from Charleroi Area High School Class of 1952 and graduated with an associate’s degree from IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania).
Edward severed honorably for his town and community for over 70 years. In 1955, Edward joined the Charleroi Regional Police Department – CRPD and then became the Chief of Police in 1983 to 1994. In addition to his service and duty as a law enforcement officer, Edward volunteered 30 years in the Charleroi Fire Department helping in any way he could. Edward loved spending his weekends at his Whipkey Dam cabin in Markleton, PA. He was the president of the Whipkey Dam Cabin Owners Association. He also enjoyed travelling the world with his family and spending as much time he could with his family who will miss him the most.
Surviving to cherish Edward’s memory; his beloved wife of 73 years Marian Hank, his sons Edward (Angela Calfo) Joseph Hank Jr. and Paul (Susan) Michael Hank. His grandchildren, Edward (Angelina) Joseph Hank III, Ethan (Kaitlin Geho) John Hank, and Aaron (Alayna) Michael Hank, and his precious great-granddaughter Ensley Jo Hank.
Friends and family will be received from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. on Friday, September 12th, 2025 at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. The Charleroi Fire Department will do an honorary walk through at 7:00p.m. and Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary inside the funeral home beginning at 7:30p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30p.m. on Saturday, September 13th, 2025 at St. Andrew the Apostle – Charleroi Site, 624 Washington Ave. Family asks for those attending Mass to please meet at the church. Interment with full Military Honors will follow the service at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Monongahela. Online condolences may be sent to www.hogan-melenyzer.com.
In lieu of flowers, family has asked for donations to be made in Edward’s memory to the Charleroi Fire Department, 328 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022 and donations to the Charleroi Regional Police Department, 338 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
