F. Richard Schanning

F. Richard Schanning, 79, of Washington, formerly of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2022 in the South Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. Born on August 3rd, 1942, in North Charleroi, Richard is the son of the late Charles & Rose Giambrone Schanning.

Richard was the owner and operator of Richard’s Children's Store in Charleroi and then continued on to be a Jeweler at Bailey, Banks & Biddle Jewelry store in South Hills Village Mall until his retirement.

He was a member of the Senior LIFE Washington. Richard was a theater and movie aficionado; he loved spending his free time going to shows and listening to his music with his dearest friends.

Surviving to cherish Richards’s memory; his close friend whom he loved like his daughter Renea (Randy) Jordan and their son Jace Jordan whom Richard loved like a grandson. Along with his longtime devoted friend Rev. Shawn Moninger.  

In addition to his parents Richard is preceded in death by his aunt Anne Giambrone.

A graveside service will be held at Mon Valley Memorial Park, 49 Second Street Ext. Donora, PA on Thursday July 14th, 2022 at 11:00am with Rev. Shawn Moninger officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hogan-Melenyzer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.
