Gary A. Altemara

Gary A. Altemara, (72), of North Charleroi, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

Gary was born to Anthony and Julia (Magone) Altemara, on January 5, 1952, in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Charleroi Area High School in 1969 and went on to achieve his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree from California State College.

Gary was a talented artist with an eye for detail, having held various creative and technical jobs before beginning his career in higher education as an adjunct faculty member at California State College in 1981. Gary's commitment to the education system landed him at Westmoreland County Community College, where for 36 years, he was able to share his passion for arts, music, and media with thousands of creative minds.

Another of his great life loves was his wife, Theresa, whom he met in college. The pair tied the knot on September 12, 1975, and withstood the trials and tests of time for nearly 50 years. During those years, Gary and Theresa started a family and raised two beautiful and headstrong daughters, Kristy and Jessica. His list of life loves lengthened again with the birth of his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Eric. Gary was so proud of each and every one of them, he celebrated their uniqueness, and he loved them unconditionally.

Gary's creativity enabled him to weave the different threads of his life together in a way that only he could. The colorful tapestry of his time here portrays a life filled with adventure, ideas, laughter, love, and the happiest of memories with so many.

Gary leaves behind his wife, Theresa, his daughters Kristy (George Muchesko) Altemara and Jessica Royer, his grandchildren Elizabeth Muchesko and Eric Anthony Muchesko, and various cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Julia Altemara.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday December 1st, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, at St. Andrew the Apostle Church – Charleroi Site, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, Pa 15022.
