Howard D. Hughes, 94, of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on Oct. 9, 2021, at Penn Highlands Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born in Brownsville on Jan. 19, 1927, Howard is the son of the late Isaac and Mary Gue Hughes. Methodist by faith, Howard was one of the longest active members of American Legion Post 22 in Charleroi. Following Montgomery Ward, Howard supplied maintenance, repair and general services with McGinley Maintenance Inc. for many years until his last retirement at age 93. He enjoyed working on the family farm, rooting for his beloved Pittsburgh sports teams, playing horseshoes, golfing, watching “Star Trek” and was an avid sci-fi fan. Howard’s true joy in life was being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
