Irene L. Moon

Irene L. Moon, 95, of Fallowfield Township, went to be with the Lord on February 5th, 2025. Irene was born in Connellsville, PA on May 17th, 1929, to the late Joseph and Marie (Helms) Fierschnaller.

In addition to her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years James F. Moon, and her brother Jospeh Fierschnaller.

Irene was a devout Christian; she was a member of the Washington Church of Christ and Lover Church of Christ in Charleroi. She was employed by Continental Imports, a gift store in Charleroi and SuperValu foods.

Irene was always showing kindness and compassion to not only to her family, but to those in need and less fortunate than her. She enjoyed her activities with the Sonshiners Adult Group with the Washington Church of Christ, using her treadmill almost every day and shoveling snow well into her nineties. Irene loved her time with her grandsons while riding amusement rides at Idlewild Park.

Surviving to cherish Irene’s memory; her sons Dr. James (Iris) Moon of St. Petersburg FL and Alan (Debra) Moon of Monessen PA, her three grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

Friends and family will be received from 10:00am to 11:00am with funeral services following at 11:00am on Saturday February 8th, 2025 in the Hogan-Melenyzer Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Avenue Charleroi Pa, with Minister John Wright officiating.  Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville. Per Irene’s wishes, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Washington Church of Christ, 700 Allison Ave Washington, PA 15301.
