Joanna R. Spossey, 79, of Chesapeake VA, formerly of Charleroi, PA, reposed in the Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Joanna was born on November 4, 1944 in New Eagle, PA to the late John and Ann (Kobal) Roberts. She was the granddaughter of Harry and Eva (Telech) Roberts and John and Sophie (Kalenich) Kobaly.
Joanna was a graduate of the Charleroi Area High School Class of 1962. She worked for many years as an Executive Assistant/Human Resources with the DaiEi Papers (USA) Corporation in Virginia Beach, VA. She loved her Russian Orthodox faith, gardening and flowers, the Penn State Nittany Lions, and her Pittsburgh Steelers. She was a member of the Saint Basil the Great Russian Orthodox Church in Belle Vernon, PA.
Surviving to cherish Joanna’s memory; her daughters Kristi Spossey Ramsey of Chesapeake, VA and Lori A. Spossey McLaughlin and husband Lee of Greer, SC; her grandchildren Joseph Alfred Tollison and Jillian Paige (Damian Richardson) Tollison, all of Murfreesboro, TN; her great-grandchildren Ivy Lynn Richardson and Melody Rose Tollison; her nephew Michael Roberts of Charleroi PA, her dear cousins Patty Anderson and husband Roy of Rostraver Twp, Mary Ann Turlik and husband Phil of Monongahela PA, and Johnny Kobal and wife Ruth of Belle Vernon, PA; and her great nieces, great nephews, and her dearest friends.
In addition to her parents, Joanna is preceded in death by her daughter Cheri Lyn Spossey Tollison, her brother Harry Roberts, many aunts and uncles, including her dear Aunts Violet Kobal and Anna Mae Kobaly, and her close cousin Charles “Butch” Kobaly.
As per Joanna's wishes, a private family service will be held at Hogan-Melenyzer Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022 and burial on Thursday, July 25, 2024, with interment at Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela, PA.
