Joseph C. Zupan, 93, of North Charleroi, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved family by his side on May 8th, 2026. Joseph was born in Monessen on November 7th, 1932 to the late Adam and Katherine (Priselac) Zupan.
Catholic by faith; Joseph was a member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish- Charleroi Site. Joseph graduated from Monessen High School class of 1951 and was on the Monessen Basketball winning championship team that year. Following high school, Joseph served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Joseph worked for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel at the Monessen Plant as a crane operator.
Joseph loved swimming and would go to the local YMCA daily to swim laps. In his earlier years, Joseph loved to play tennis and enjoyed watching tennis on T.V. Joseph was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family and will be dearly missed.
Surviving to cherish Joseph’s memory; his beloved wife of 70 years Helen (Suchy) Zupan, his daughters Diane Metzger and Deborah Wanichko. His grandchildren; Shannon (Jeremy) O’Brien, Samantha (Levi) Pardee, Kylie (Geoff) Bernstein, Matthew (Kendall) Metzger, and Jason Zupan. His great-grandchildren; Melina and Brianna O’Brien, Cooper and Wesleigh Pardee, Hadley Bernstein, Leo and Jonas Metzger, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joseph is preceded in death by his son Daryl Zupan, his brothers John Zupan and Jack Zupan, his sister Ann Kovalsky and son-in-law Ronald Wanichko.
Friends and family will be received from 2:00 to 6:00pm on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 at Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish– Charleroi Site, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. Interment will follow mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.hogan-melenyzer.com.
