Larry Donald Breckenridge

Larry Donald Breckenridge, 74, of Belle Vernon, passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2026. Born in North Charleroi on July 15, 1951, Larry was the son of the late Donald and Jane (Sturgis) Breckenridge.

A graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School, Class of 1969, Larry continued his education at Fairmont State College where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1973 and was a brother of the Theta Xi Fraternity. Larry was an accomplished swimmer in high school and competed on the Fairmont State NCAA swim team.

A fluid power engineer, Larry was internationally known for his work supporting steel, mining, oil, and gas. At the time of his passing, Larry was serving as Chief Engineer for Wojanis Supply Co.

A member of the Community of Christ Church in Fayette City, Larry was a Free and Accepted 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Fayette City-Washington Twp. Lions Club and a Laird of Scotland. Larry was a craftsman, along with being an all-around handyman, who could teach anyone how to fix just about anything. He even built his family’s home “nail-by-nail” until completion. He moved through life with a legendary sense of humor and an endless supply of stories that could captivate any room. He was also a proud Scotsman, an avid West Virginia Mountaineers fan, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving to cherish Larry’s memory; his wife of 56 years, Molly Ann Hogan Breckenridge. Two sons; Christian (Alice) Breckenridge and Jonathan (Nicole) Breckenridge. His two grandchildren Elizabeth and Thomas Breckenridge. His sister Debie (Bob) Hough and his brother-in-law George (Sherry) Hogan. His niece Bree (Tom) Martinak and nephew Brandon Hough as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with close family friend, Kate Sopko.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister Dawn Louise Breckenridge and his nephews Robert Crawford and Dylan Crawford.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.
