Martha Williams Obituary

Martha (Timoshenko) Williams went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, on August 9, 2022.  She was born on November 21, 1922 in Donora, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Xenia and Sergei Timoshenko. Martha was one of five daughters.

Martha was a beautiful, kind, compassionate soul.  It was no wonder that William Williams fell in love with her, and they married shortly after. They were married for 63 beautiful years until “Bill” passed away in 2004.

Together, Bill and Martha had three children: Roger Williams (Lois) of Somerset, Pa, Cheryl Zippay (Edmond) of Fallowfield, Pa, William Williams (Rose) of Fallowfield, Pa. Martha was a mother who loved her children fiercely, and told them often how much she loved them.

Martha loved being a mother and matriarch, and she loved being a grandma and great-grandma even more.

She was the grandmother of: Jerrold Williams, Jason G. Zippay (Diana), Jeannette Landis (Steve), Marc Williams (Faithe), and Gary W. Zippay (Heather).

Her grandchildren treasured their time with her.  Martha would often pick blackberries with the children, bake fresh pies, and loved cooking meals. Her greatest joy came in preparing delicious meals for her family. She also enjoyed sewing, and decorating her home.

Martha was blessed to see the birth of her five great grand children as well: Victoria Zippay, Bailey Zippay, Aiden Zippay, Kara Landis, and Tobias Zippay. Martha thoroughly enjoyed seeing her great grandchildren, and she loved to tell them how beautiful and handsome they were.

Martha was preceded in death by her loving husband William Williams, her parents Xenia and Sergei, her four sisters: Rose Ruev, Ann Rivas, Mary Paulick, and Helen Malaski.

Martha was always dressed impeccably, but her most beautiful asset was her smile and infectious laugh.  Aside from her beauty, Martha had a selfless and loving heart. She always loved animals, (especially her dog Sammy) and was an eternal empath. She felt such compassion for all of God’s creatures.

Martha was a faithful follower of God, and was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican  Church. She was the very definition of “Christ like” in her actions and words.

Martha was more than the words on this paper. She was the light that lit up a room. She was the hug and kiss that would heal your heart. She knew how to make our days better with a silly dance or tune. Martha loved to laugh, and enjoyed the warm sun. Watching her flowers grow and bloom was her favorite summer past time.

Martha was “mum,” “gram,” “grandma,” and “great grandma” to us….and she left a piece of her in each of us. To know her, and be loved by her, was the greatest blessing she could have left us with.

A special thank you to her caregivers (Sherri Vogel and Felicia Jesus), Monvalley EMS drivers (Tom and Dave), and to Wendy Monahan from the mobile lab at Penn Highlands Monvalley. We appreciate all of you for your compassionate care for our mother.
