Mildred “Mid” Psak, age 100, of Craven Hill, Charleroi, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. She joins her husband of 61 years, John “Rusty” Psak, in eternal rest.
Born to the late Stevan and Anna (Kolcun) Todic, Mid was a devoted member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Charleroi. She was active in the Greek Catholic Union as both a Lodge Officer and Convention Delegate and volunteered generously with the Saint Vincent DePaul Society. Throughout her life, she worked for The Tribune Review, Continental Imports, and Corning Glass.
Mid found her greatest joy in her family and preparing meals from her mother’s treasured Slovak recipes—Halupki, Pirohi, and Kolache. She took great pride in her Carpatho-Rusyn heritage, to be on the receiving end of her cooking was truly a delight. She was a wonderful Mom, Grammy, neighbor, and friend, known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering pride in her Slovak/Rusyn heritage. She loved attending Tamburitzan performances, singing along to weekend Polka radio shows, tending to her peony garden, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mid was blessed to be active and enjoyed daily visits with family, attending Sunday Liturgy, walking, playing corn hole, bingo, and cards up until a week of her passing.
Mid is survived by her son, David Psak of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Joan (Larry) DiBarry of Chambersburg, and Meribeth (Al) Peters of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren—Alex DiBarry and Tammy Nichols, Katrina (Jason) Engelhardt, Bethany (Andy) Campbell, Mark (Sarah) DiBarry, Lauren (Evan) Roach, Trip Peters, and Leslie (Logan) Punch; four great‑grandchildren, with one more on the way, and one nephew, Andy Shepelak.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mid was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Psak and her sister, Martha Shepelak.
Friends will be received at the Hogan‑Melenyzer Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., on Friday, March 27, from 4–6 pm, and on Saturday, March 28, from 10–11 am. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:30 am at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 125 McKee Ave., Monessen, PA. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
