Patricia "Patty" Ann Malec Zelinsky

Patricia “Patty” Malec Zelinsky, 84, of Van Voorhis, passed away peacefully on Nov. 21, 2025. Born in Bentleyville, on Oct. 6, 1941, Patty was the daughter of the late Walter Malec and Mary Suscik.

Patty attended the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy where she excelled and proudly logged over 1,200 credit hours. Patty was very devoted to her faith and was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She attended numerous church activities, volunteered for Sabbath School and Bible study courses and was a member of a Prayer Warrior Group. Patty was a fantastic baker and cook, she took great pride in creating delicious meals and desserts for her family and friends. She enjoyed trying new restaurants, listening to oldies, especially Elvis. Patty loved going to the beach and sitting on her porch enjoying a beautiful sunset. However, what she loved most was her family, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly.

Surviving to cherish Patty’s memory, her husband of 50 years, Joseph Zelinsky; her children, Robert Theakston, Rodney Theakston and Renee (Dave) Sommovilla; her granddaughter, Kayla Sommovilla; her sister, Darlene Healey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her son Russell Theakston, her husband Sheridan Theakston, and her brothers Walter Malec, Robert Maelc, Billy Malec and Ronnie Malec.

 Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025, in the funeral home.
