Ruby Grace (Redd) Romito March 8, 1931 - January 5, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother who left us peacefully on January 5, 2025, at the age of 93.

Ruby was born on March 8, 1931, to the late Andrew and Grace (Miller) Redd of Allenport, Pa. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald H. Romito Sr., and her siblings: Grace Redd, Doris Lauder (Pete), James Redd (Bonnie), Lois Weekly (Jim), and Beverly Baringer (Kenneth).

She is survived by her children Patty (Joe) Smith of Charleroi PA, Donald (Victoria) of Toledo, Ohio, Albert (Tammi) Romito of Maumee, Ohio and Dana (George) Galis of Houston, PA. She was lovingly devoted to her nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren (her 15th expected to arrive in a few weeks) in addition to many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She will be remembered with love and fondness.

Ruby's warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. A woman of great faith, she devoted her life to her family, offering love and guidance throughout the years. Her legacy of strength, compassion, and love will live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

After raising her four children she worked as a cashier and lottery attendant for 25 years at the Shop N Save/Giant Eagle/Sparkle in Charleroi, Pa. where she made many lifelong friends. 

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers of Suncrest Hospice Care as well as the Mon Valley Care Center staff.  A special thank you to CJ, Monica and Chaplain Phil for their kindness and gentle care.   

A private family service will be held to honor Ruby’s life and memory. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation (https://www.alzheimersresearchfoundation.com) or a charity of your choice. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hogan-Melenyzer Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. Online Condolences can be expressed via https://www.schrock-hogan.com.  Ruby will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
