Stephen Berkich, 78, of Charleroi went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 24, 2026 surrounded by his loving family following a short illness. Stephen was born May 2, 1947 to the late Steve Berkich and Arlena Herman.
Mr. Berkich graduated from Charleroi High school in 1965 and married his high school sweetheart, Rose Mary Wukovich, on August 11, 1965. They shared 60 years of marriage in which they had 2 daughters-Tracy Edwards (Joseph) and Betty J. Lackner (Robert); 4 grandchildren-Samantha Conner (Brandon), Erica Englert (Bobby), David J. Santina (Karissa), and Taylor Bornes (Michael); and 4 great grandchildren (Hayden, Jace, Tristan, and David B.). Surviving also are 5 sisters and 1 brother.
In life, Stephen worked at Kroger Bakery for several years following graduation before securing a position at MonView Mine where he worked for many years as a coal miner. In 2008 he graduated from Shiloh Bible Institute with a diploma in ministerial services. Through the years Stephen served as a deacon and pastor in his service to the Lord. Everyone who knew Stephen knew he was a man that had strong faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. He spent much time at the MonValley House of Prayer during the week and attended church services at Redeemed Life Fellowship, Ella Hollow, PA.
Stephen was a man who lived what he believed and preached what he lived. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, January 29th 2026, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at which time the funeral services will begin inside the funeral home, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
