Thomas Weiss Obituary

Thomas Phillip Weiss, 90, of Dunlevy, passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2022, with his loving family by his side. Born in Charleroi, on June 11th, 1931, Tom was the son of the late Joseph & Katherine (Krisko) Weiss. After graduating from high school Tom served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. Following his service Tom worked as a Switching Supervisor for Bell Telephone until his retirement.

 

Catholic by faith; Tom served as a sacristan at Saint Cyril & Methodius, Mary Mother of the Church and Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish. He was a member of the 10th Street A.C., Knights of Columbus and the American Legion; but what was truly most important to Tom was spending time with his family whom he loved with all his heart.

 

Surviving to cherish Tom’s memory; his daughter Nancy (Robert) Bernstein, his family with whom he made his home, daughter Eileen (Matt) Claybaugh and granddaughters Brittany & Maria Claybaugh. His brother Leo Weiss, of TX, sister-in-law Elvira Weiss; along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

In addition to his parents Tom is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Elaine and son, SGT Thomas P. Weiss Jr. Brothers; Gabriel, Daniel, Joseph, and Mark Weiss. Sisters Mary Henrion, Martha Mazzei, Teresa Bartolotta, Sr. Anne Weiss OFS, Sr. Carmaletta Weiss.

 

Friends and Family will be received from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Sunday March 6th, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock- Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Monday March 7th, 2022, at St. Andrew Apostle Parish, Charleroi Site, 7th Street and Washington Avenue, Charleroi. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, PO Box 863765, Orlando FL 32886 www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/shc/donate.
