Wilma Sharp Obituary

Wilma Jean (Moody) Sharp, 95 years young, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021.  She was born in 1925 and raised in North Charleroi, PA.  She lived there for 88 years until she moved to Texas to live with her oldest daughter and son-in-law until her death.  Before she moved to Texas Wilma was very active in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.  She worked in the medical records department at the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital for many years.  “Mayno”, as she was affectionately called, loved all animals, especially her cats Cali and Ashley.  She was an avid reader and puzzle solver.  Sewing, cooking, playing cards, traveling, watching Fox News, and visiting casinos whenever and wherever possible, were her favorite past times.  In her younger years Mayno enjoyed bowling.  She belonged to a traveling league, and a couples’ league with her husband, Jack.  Even though she struggled with several health issues during her last years, she continued to have a great sense of humor and was loved by her family, caregivers and friends.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, David Ray and Helen Moody, of North Charleroi, her brother David, half-sisters Virginia and Anna; and the love of her life, Jack Harrison Sharp, her husband of 49 years.  She is survived by her children, Kathy (Bill) Ercoline, Eileen (Michael) Capozzoli, and Jack (Caron) Sharp, Jr; her grandchildren, Erin (Gabe) Upton, Nicole (David) Berkland, Brandon Ercoline (Melissa Weston), Christopher (Erica) Capozzoli, Michael (Gina) Capozzoli, Carissa (Kevin) Mull, Cari (Eric) Weishuhn, Jacquelyn (Trent) Womble; and greatgrandchildren—Alexa & Christopher Capozzoli; Mia & Matt Berkland; Jillian, Jaclyn & Juliana Capozzoli; Gabrielle & Louis Upton; Trysta Ercoline (Sophia Weston); Presley & Jace Mull; Emersyn & Harrison Weishuhn; and Grayson, Caden & Regan Womble.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Northeast Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, TX, especially the Radiology Department and staff; to the second-floor doctors, nurses and staff; and to all the doctors who cared for Mayno.  She maintained a quality of life that would not have been possible without the love and care from the medical personnel, her family and her friends.  A very special thank you to Caroline (lifelong friend and neighbor); Corrinne, Lydia, Pam, Ellen and Patty (friends and caregivers); Father Tim Vellom and members of St. Matthews Episcopal Church; and Christus VNA hospice and staff—especially Barbara, Beverly, Tammy and Joyce.

Visitation will be at the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home in Charleroi, PA from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on July 6, 2021, followed by a service at the same location.  Interment will take place at the Monongahela Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT  84741.
