David R. Turney, 64 of Long Branch, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 in the log home that he built.  He was born March 3, 1952 in North Charleroi, the son of Marjorie Riggins Turney of Belle Vernon and the late David J. Turney.  Dave graduated from Belle Vernon High School in 1970.  He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant with 37 years of service and then worked at Tri State Hydraulics in Charleroi.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Kathleen Mullen Turney; his two daughters Kaylee Gmutza (Brian and his son Branden) of Belle Vernon and Cassandra Solomon (Richard) of Monongahela; his sister Lee Ann Russell (Robert) of Sugar Grove, PA; his mother and father-in law John and Patricia Mullen of Charleroi; his brothers-in-law Robert (Laura) Mullen of Lexington, SC and Pete (Sharle) Mullen of Virginia Beach, VA, and sister-in-law Luanne (Duncan) Hyslop of Donora, PA; nephews Aubrey Richir and Calum Hyslop and niece Meagan Hyslop.  There will be no public visitation.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Charleroi.  Dave was an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for hunting and fishing.  To conserve and enhance Pennsylvania’s elk country for future generations, donations can be made in memory of Dave to the Keystone Elk Country Alliance (134 Homestead Dr. Benezette, PA 15821, www.experienceelkcountry.com ).  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
