Lawrence “Larry” Pankiewicz, 71 of Carroll Township, received his final orders to deliver one last letter to the Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2017. He was born August 10, 1945 in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Stanley P. and Mary A.Cislak Pankiewicz. Larry graduated from Mon Valley Catholic High School, class of 1963. After high school he entered the US Army as a member of the 630th Transportation Unit and was ordered into active service in Vietnam during 1968. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora, Charleroi Sportsmen’s Assoc., American Legion Post 22 and Belgium Club in Charleroi, the American Croatian Citizens Club in Donora, V.F.W. and the Polish Club in Bentleyville. Larry retired from the US Postal Service where he was the Postmaster at the Marianna Post Office. Larry had a love of polkas and enjoyed celebrating his Polish heritage through cooking the annual Christmas Eve Wigilia. Larry is survived by his brother Stan R. Pankiewicz of Carroll Township; two nephews David P. and Ryan J. Pankiewicz; four aunts Jean Hevia of Donora, Alice Cislak of Fairless Hills, Laura Pankiewicz of Arnold City and Louise Cislak of New Eagle. In addition to his parents Larry is preceded in death by his sister-in-law Margie Caruso Pankiewicz. Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday at 10a.m. in Mary, Mother of the Church, 7th & Washington Ave., Charleroi celebrated by the Rev. Gerald Mikonis.
