Sandra R. McFarland, 75 of Monessen, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 in the Monongahela Valley Hospital, Carroll Township after a lengthy illness.  She was born December 9, 1941 in Belle Vernon, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth Hughes Crusan. Sandra enjoyed going to the casino, all Pittsburgh Sports and spending time with her family and her animals.  She was never seen without a smile on her face.  Sandra devoted her entire life taking care of others and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. On August 16th, 1991, Sandra married the love of her life and best friend, James H. McFarland, who survives.  Left to cherish her memories with her husband and her children, Christine Shepard of Monessen and son David (Amy) Hixenbaugh of Uniontown; a daughter-in-law Joanna Nye of Cokeburg; her grandchildren Ryan and Amy DiMaggio of Cranberry Township, Chaz Simpson and Allison Hixenbaugh of Cokeburg; one great granddaughter Rilyn Simpson and her beloved dog King.  Sandra is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents Sandra is preceded in death by her sister Wanda Massengill and a son who died in infancy.  Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:45p.m. in the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8p.m. in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
